Nearly 15 million U.S. households rent a studio or one-bedroom apartment¹, homes that typically are under 800 square feet². Every holiday season, those renters face the same dilemma of hosting guests without a spare room. Spaze, a direct-to-consumer sofa bed brand, built its best-selling Alure for exactly that situation. By day, it's a two-seater sofa that fits a footprint of just 63.4 inches wide. By night, it opens in seconds into a queen-size bed without pulling away from the wall, so there's no rearranging furniture when guests stay over.
Traditional queen sleeper sofas can create a new problem: many are 70 inches wide or more, making them difficult to fit into smaller spaces. Spaze designs its sleepers around this challenge, fitting a true queen-size sleep surface into a compact frame made for the way you live.
“A queen-size sofa bed usually means sacrificing a lot of space. We designed ours to deliver a true queen-size sleeping surface while staying under 65 inches wide, so even small apartments can comfortably host overnight guests without giving up valuable room," said Zoe Perovic, Sofa Bed Specialist at Spaze.
The Alure’s raised 16.5-inch seat and bed height makes it easy to get out of, not a low-to-the-floor fold-out. Its solid wood frame and high-quality mechanism provide smooth, quiet, and fast conversion built for frequent use. Designed for small spaces, it delivers full queen comfort for two adults without sacrificing valuable floor space.
Spaze’s Alure Key Features:
- Wall-hugger design stays close to the wall with zero clearance, and it opens in seconds without moving furniture.
- Queen-size sleep surface comfortably sleeps two adults while it measures just 63.4 inches wide.
- Raised 16.5-inch seat and bed height makes getting in and out easier
- Solid wood frame provides durable, stable support for daily use.
- High-quality conversion mechanism opens and closes smoothly, quietly, and quickly.
Buying the right sofa bed is only half of hosting well in a tight space. A few simple habits can make the difference between a comfortable stay and a cramped one.
Tips For Hosting in a Small Apartment:
- Measure both the wall width and the open-bed depth before buying, not just the sofa width.
- Leave some walking path to go around the sofa bed.
- Keep guest bedding and a mattress topper in the same room as the sofa bed to cut setup time.
